Shopify Migration Services

Shopify migration services move your products, customers, orders, content and search rankings from Magento, BigCommerce, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, WooCommerce or a custom platform to Shopify or Shopify Plus. Ecomzier maps your data, rebuilds what cannot move, sets a 301 redirect for every old URL and tests everything while your current store keeps selling.

Recent projects include 180,000 orders and 5,500 subscriptions moved from WooCommerce, and 70,000+ SKUs moved from X Cart to Shopify Plus.

Which platforms can you migrate to Shopify Plus?

Almost any. Each migration page below covers what moves from that platform, how its URLs redirect and what we rebuild. Enterprise platforms come first, because most of our migration work is complex catalogs, B2B data and integrations moving to Shopify Plus.

What moves in a Shopify migration?

Everything that is data moves. Code does not: themes, plugins and extensions are rebuilt the Shopify way. This is the overview; each platform page above has the detailed mapping for that platform.

DataMoves?How it lands in Shopify
Products and variantsYesTitles, descriptions, SKUs, prices, stock, weights and images move. Shopify allows up to three options and 2,048 variants per product, so larger option sets are restructured (Shopify Help Center).
CategoriesYes, remappedCategories become collections, and the category tree becomes your navigation menus.
Attributes and custom fieldsYes, remappedAttributes, specs and custom fields become metafields that can power filters and product templates.
Customers and addressesYesNames, emails, phones, addresses, tags and marketing consent move by CSV or API (Shopify Help Center).
Customer passwordsNoPlatforms store passwords as one way hashes, so they cannot be transferred. With new customer accounts, customers sign in with a one time 6 digit code sent to their email (Shopify Help Center).
Historical ordersYes, via APIThe Shopify admin has no order CSV import. Orders move through migration apps or the Order API (Shopify Help Center), with line items, totals, taxes and dates.
Gift cards and store creditYes, via APIBalances move through migration apps or the GiftCard API (Shopify Help Center).
Blog posts and pagesYesContent, images and authors move into Shopify blogs and pages.
ReviewsYesRatings, text and dates move into the Shopify review app you choose.
SEO metadataYesMeta titles, meta descriptions, image alt text and headings move unchanged.
Old URLsRedirectedEvery old URL gets a 301 redirect to its new Shopify address.
Theme, plugins and extensionsNo, rebuiltRebuilt as a Shopify theme, native features, apps or custom code.
ERP, PIM, OMS and other integrationsReconnectedEach integration is reconnected to Shopify and tested before launch.

How do you keep SEO rankings during a Shopify migration?

With a 301 redirect for every old URL. Shopify uses fixed URL prefixes such as /products/, /collections/ and /pages/, so almost every URL changes when you replatform. Search engines follow a 301 redirect to the new address, so the work is in making sure no indexed or linked URL is missed.

StepWhat we do
URL inventoryWe crawl the current store and pull indexed and linked URLs from Google Search Console, so nothing that ranks or earns links is missed.
One to one redirect mapEach product, category, brand, page and blog URL maps to its exact Shopify equivalent. No mass redirects to the homepage.
Redirect importThe map is imported into Shopify URL redirects by CSV (Shopify Help Center).
Metadata and contentMeta titles, meta descriptions, headings, alt text and copy move unchanged, and internal links are updated to the new URLs.
SitemapShopify generates /sitemap.xml automatically (Shopify Help Center). We submit it in Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools on launch day.
Post launch checksWe test the old URLs on the live domain and watch Search Console for 404 errors, fixing any gaps.

Shopify allows up to 100,000 URL redirects per store, or 20,000,000 on Shopify Plus. Redirects only work from URLs that no longer load a page, and URLs with query strings might not redirect as expected, so we test those individually (Shopify Help Center).

Our Shopify migration process

Five steps, with your current store live and selling until launch day.

  1. Step 01

    Audit and plan

We review your platform, data, extensions, integrations and URLs, and you receive a written migration plan.

  2. Step 02

    Data mapping

Products, variants, attributes, customers and orders are mapped field by field, and you approve the mapping.

  3. Step 03

    Build and test migration

We build the Shopify store and run a full test import. Your team reviews it while the current store stays live.

  4. Step 04

    Redirects and SEO

The redirect map, metadata and internal links are loaded and checked URL by URL against the crawl.

  5. Step 05

    Launch and monitoring

We move data created since the test run, connect your domain, submit the sitemap and monitor Search Console.

How long does a Shopify Plus migration take?

It depends on store complexity more than on the platform. Most of the time goes into data mapping, rebuilding features, design, integrations and testing, not into moving data. Typical ranges:

Store complexityTypical scopeTypical timeline
Small storeUnder 500 products, simple variants, few apps or plugins2 to 4 weeks
Mid size store500 to 5,000 products, many variants, several languages or currencies4 to 8 weeks
Enterprise or B2B store5,000+ products, several storefronts, B2B pricing, ERP or other integrations8 to 16 weeks

Typical ranges for planning only, not a quote or a guarantee. Your audit sets the actual schedule.

How we run your migration

  • Your store keeps selling

We build and test on Shopify while your current store stays live, then switch on launch day.

  • One to one redirect map

Every indexed and linked URL gets its own 301 redirect, checked again after launch.

  • Test migration first

You review a full test import of your real data before anything goes live.

  • Enterprise data handled

Custom fields, B2B customers and price lists, multiple storefronts and large order histories are mapped, not dropped.

  • Features rebuilt, not copied

Extensions and custom code are replaced with native Shopify features, apps or clean custom code.

  • Support after launch

We monitor Search Console and fix any gaps once your Shopify store is live.

Shopify migration services FAQ

What do Shopify migration services include?

A full migration covers an audit, data mapping, the data transfer itself (products, customers, orders, content and reviews), rebuilding your theme and features on Shopify, a 301 redirect for every old URL, integration setup, testing and post launch monitoring.

Which platforms can you migrate to Shopify Plus?

Magento and Adobe Commerce, BigCommerce, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, SAP Commerce, Oracle Commerce, custom and headless platforms, WooCommerce, WordPress, PrestaShop, OpenCart, Wix, Squarespace and Weebly. Platforms without their own page are covered on our migration from any other platform page.

Will I lose SEO rankings when I migrate to Shopify?

Not if it is done carefully. Every old URL needs a 301 redirect to its new Shopify URL, and meta titles, descriptions, alt text and content should stay the same. Shopify supports up to 100,000 redirects, or 20,000,000 on Shopify Plus (Shopify Help Center). Short term ranking movement is normal after any replatform, so we monitor Search Console after launch.

Can historical orders be migrated to Shopify?

Yes, but not through the admin. Shopify CSV import covers products and customers; orders need a migration app or the Order API (Shopify Help Center). We import orders with line items, totals, taxes and dates so customers see their order history.

Do customers need to reset their passwords after a migration?

Passwords cannot be transferred, because platforms store them as one way hashes. With Shopify new customer accounts, customers sign in with a one time 6 digit code sent to their email, so no password is needed (Shopify Help Center).

How long does a Shopify Plus migration take?

Typically 2 to 4 weeks for a small store, 4 to 8 weeks for a mid size store and 8 to 16 weeks for an enterprise or B2B store with integrations. These are planning ranges, not a guarantee; your audit sets the actual schedule.

Does my store stay live during the migration?

Yes. We build and test the Shopify store while your current store keeps taking orders. On launch day we move any data created since the test run and switch your domain.

Should I migrate to Shopify or Shopify Plus?

It depends on your volume, number of storefronts, B2B needs and integrations, and we will recommend one during the audit. You can start on Shopify and upgrade to Shopify Plus later without migrating again.

How much does a Shopify migration cost?

We do not publish fixed prices, because the work depends on catalog size, data complexity, design scope and integrations. A free audit gives you a fixed quote before any work starts.
