When is Shopify Plus not worth it?

We would rather tell you to wait than sell you an upgrade you will not use. Plus is usually not worth it yet if:

You only need B2B basics. Companies, net terms, quantity rules, price breaks and up to 3 catalogs work on every plan (Shopify Help Center).
You only want automation. Shopify Flow is free on Basic, Grow and Advanced too (Shopify Help Center).
Your checkout needs are post purchase. Thank you and Order status page extensions are available on every plan (Shopify Help Center).
An App Store app already covers the logic. Public apps with Shopify Functions run on any plan; only custom Function apps need Plus (Shopify developer docs).
Advanced still fits your team. If 15 staff accounts, 10 locations and one store are enough, the Plus fee buys features you will not switch on.
The real problem is the storefront. Slow pages, a weak theme or low conversion are fixed with design and development work, not a plan change.

No. Upgrading is a plan change on your existing store. Shopify upgrades the store to the Shopify Plus plan within 24 business hours of sign up (Shopify Plus), and your products, customers, orders, theme, apps and URLs stay as they are.

How long does it take to upgrade to Shopify Plus?

The plan switch takes up to 24 business hours (Shopify Plus). Setting up Plus features such as checkout extensions, Functions, B2B or expansion stores typically takes 2 to 10 weeks depending on scope.

How much does Shopify Plus cost?

Shopify publishes Plus pricing on its Shopify Plus pricing page. The plan has a monthly fee on a 1 or 3 year term, and more complex, higher volume businesses move to a variable platform fee based on revenue and business model. Prices vary by region, so check the page for your market.

Can I try Shopify Plus before committing?

Eligible stores can start a Plus trial in the admin under Settings, Plan, Change plan, Try Plus. The trial lasts 1 to 2 months, and if you take no action the store is enrolled in a full Plus plan when it ends (Shopify Help Center).

Will upgrading to Shopify Plus affect my SEO?

No. It is the same store on the same domain, so URLs, content and metadata do not change and no redirects are needed. Plus does raise the redirect limit to 20,000,000, which helps if you later merge stores or catalogs.

Is B2B only available on Shopify Plus?

No. Companies, net terms, quantity rules, price breaks and up to 3 catalogs work on every plan. Plus adds unlimited catalogs, catalogs assigned directly to companies and locations, deposits, partial payments and payment requests per fulfillment (Shopify Help Center).
